The company was founded in 1892 by Seitaro Yamano, who believed music was a tool to help people from different cultures and languages communicate. Yamano established his first music store in the Ginza district in Tokyo, the same spot where the Yamano Music flagship store stands today. Through the past 100 years, Yamano has grown to represent international leaders in the musical instrument industry while remaining a family-owned company.
