Audix introduces 24" MicroBoom for cello, double bass and more

Introduced at Winter NAMM show 2011 in Anaheim, California, the MicroBoom from Audix, a sophisticated solution for portable and distance miking for vocals, choirs, and orchestra applications, is now available in a new 24” length. The MicroBoom 24 carbon fiber boom arm is designed specifically for the Micros Series of miniature integrated condenser microphones and can attach to any microphone stand or 5/8 threaded mount.
VP of Sales, Cliff Castle states, “The MicroBoom 24 came about initially as a request from The Portland Cello Project, an eclectic group of 15 cellists. They use the M1280 for live performances and even though they bring their own mics with them wherever they go, miking the instruments is often awkward with the standard mic stands and tripods currently available. On one of their visits to Audix we showed them the MicroBoom and asked if they would be interested in a shorter version, one that could be used in conjunction with our short pedestal stand. We made some prototypes and it allowed the group to carry their own ‘custom miking system’ with them. We soon learned that this shorter version of the MicroBoom had universal appeal so we decided to introduce it as part of the line!”
The MicroBoom 24 when used with the Audix pedestal stand will achieve microphone heights of 24 – 42 inches from the floor, perfectly suited for instruments such as cello and double bass. On a normal sized microphone stand the Microboom 24 can be used for acoustic guitar, violins, band and orchestra, tympani, percussion, and speech.
Used in conjunction with the Micros, the MicroBoom24 is a modular system that is lightweight and low profile, easy to place, immune to RF interference from wireless and cell phone devices, and requires no additional or separate phantom power adapter.

Audix CabGrabber with new boom The CabGrabber from Audix, a solution for miking guitar and bass cabinets without the use of a microphone stand, now has a new accessory which gives it additional flexibility. The Audix BOOM-CG is a boom arm that attaches to the CabGrabber or CabGrabber-XL making virtually ANY miking position possible. The boom arm features a steel adjustable rod that enables the CabGrabber to extend up to an additional 12 inches for a wide variety of microphone placement options on a guitar or bass cabinet.
The BOOM-CG simply screws on to the adjustable angled arm of the CabGrabber or CabGrabber-XL and can be moved into a variety of positions by the twist of a thumbscrew.
