1st International Organ competition in Carunchio, Italy

The council of Carunchio aunnounces the first International Organ competition "Francesco D'Onofrio" in Carunchio, August 1 - 4, 2002, in memory of monsignore Aurelio Conti. The contest will take place in the church of S. Giovanni Batista. Bernard Winsemius, Francesco Di Lernia, Andrea Macinanti and Alberto Mammarella (Artistic Director) form the jury. Prizes are 2065 Euro (1st place), 1032 Euro (2nd place) and 516 Euro (3rd place).
Organists of all nationalities without age limit may participate in the competition. A written appliction must be submitted before June, 30 2002. The enrolment fee is 62 Euro. The contestants will have to perform a program which consists of Girolamo Frescobaldi, Bergamasca (Ut Orpheus, Bärenreiter, Armelin), Bernardo Storace, un brano a scelta tra: Aria sopra la Spagnoletta - Monica (CEKM 7) and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Sonata in Do maggiore (Carrara 4573). The semi finalists will face the challenge of Girolamo Frescobaldi, Toccata IV dal II° Libro (Suvini Zerboni), Juan Cabanilles, Gagliarda I (Anglés) and Georg Muffat, una Toccata a scelta dall /Apparatus musico-organisticus (Doblinger). The program for the finalists includes Giovanni Salvatore, un Ricercare a scelta (CEKM 3), Dietrich Buxtehude, Präludium in sol minore BuxWV 163 and Giovanni Battista Martini, un tempo a scelta delle 12 Sonate (Amsterdam, 1742) (Ut Orpheus).
