MindmendersNewcomers in the greater Amsterdam area can get support in starting their carreers by the G.R.A.P. Foundation, located in the former stock exchange building. The G.R.A.P. Foundation (Groepen Raad Amsterdamse Popmuziek) is one of 13 regional pop-foundations which provide participants for the Grand Prize of the Netherlands,  awarded each year to the best newcomer in pop music.
All styles from DJs to hardrock groups or big bands are given support in their carreers.  They can leave demos and information in the G.R.A.P. archives, are introduced in a brochure which is published on a regular basis and distributed to record companies, event organisers and other interested parties in the music industry, who see the brochure and the archive as an important source of information.
KippevelHighlights on the G.R.A.P. calendar are the Amsterdam Pop Prize and the Most Wanted competion for new R&B and Hip Hop talent. Newcomers send in demos and info material to a jury of experts who decides which of the applicants are invited to the preliminary rounds of live performances. This year 36 applicants from the greater Amsterdam area competed for the Amsterdam Pop Prize and 24 acts battled it out in the Most Wanted competition.
VigilanteThis year's winner of the Most Wanted finals at the famed Paradiso, the trio Vigilante, impressed both audience and jury with their refined show. Not only will they be appearing at several festivals, they are also representing the Dutch capital in the Grand Prize of the Netherlands competition.
The Amsterdam Pop Prize 2000 went to another trio. Kippevel (Goose pimples) convinced the jury with their power, ska-feeling, pure enjoyment and Dutch lyrics, which earned them the right to compete in their category at the preliminary round for the West region for the Grand Prize in Rotterdam on September 22.  They also won studio time and more gigs.
Winners of the Amsterdam Pop Prize frequently go on to win in the national competition. For instance, the winner of 1998, Redevider, appeared on TV and got a recording deal. They are currently recording their fist CD. Mindmenders, winner of '99, played a lot of gigs and even appeared at the showcase of a commercial TV station..
