The 2011 Reeperbahn club festival kicks off in Hamburg

Germany‘s biggest club festival in one of Germany‘s most vibrant and fascinating cities will open its doors to the public on Thursday, September 22, 2011. At their home base in Germany‘s most creative neighbourhood St. Pauli, the Reeperbahn Festival crew is running at highest revs to give the finishing touches to a programme spanning nearly 200 bands and musicians plus 20 inspiring art events soon to be enjoyed by some 20.000 visitors.
If it was only for the music, the Reeperbahn Festival was in a class by its own – only paralleled by SXSW in Austin, Texas with a similar concept. Where else in the world can you discover 200 fairly unknown but still exciting bands and artists in one spot? However, some of the bands and artists have become succesful in their areas thanks to outsatanding performances during the festival season, for example Triggerfinger, an exciting trio from Belgium. The Reperbahn Festival might be the pool of which the next big thing in the world of music might be emerging. Not to forget: Visitors buy one ticket for all performances for a mere 60 Euros.
Then add the matchless scenery of Hamburg‘s (former) redlight district St. Pauli with about 40 very special concert locations like the table dance bar Pearls, the harbour barge Frau Hedi, the St. Pauli Church or the Haspa branch bank and even a whole range of live music clubs where legends like the Beatles started their international career.
The Reeperbahn Festival runs until Saturday, September 24, 2011.
