New european acts at Eurosonic and Noorderslaag 2002

Some of the best new acts of Europe are scheduled to perform live at EuroSonic/Noorderslag on 11 and 12 January 2002, in Groningen, The Netherlands. The event is a virtual mekka for anyone who is interested in new live music and new European artists. Over 1000 Dutch and 300 professional participants are expected for Noorderslag Seminar, the music industry platform that takes place during the daytime of EuroSonic/Noorderslag. Among several international panels and meetings, US musician/producer Steve Albini will deliver a keynote speech while BMG's Maarten Steinkamp speaks about 'the end of the major'.
Also known as the Noorderslag Weekend, EuroSonic/Noorderslag is an exciting, fun and exhilarating way to see Europe's upcoming talent and meet professionals from the international music scene. Combining two festivals and one business conference in a single weekend, Noorderslag co-operates with The Network, Yourope and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to bring a large contingent of European agents, festival programmers and radio producers to Groningen.

Friday 11 January 2002 EuroSonic - Europe's Prime New Talent Event

EuroSonic is the European showcase festival and takes place in over ten venues, with capacity varying from 150 to 1000, all within a five minute walk of each other in the city centre of Groningen.
Showcases at EuroSonic are supported by the main European booking agents and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), with large media and audience attendance. EuroSonic has been a sold out event for many years now. In co-operation with the EBU and Radio 3FM, EuroSonic is broadcast on Holland's national radio and to several other European territories.

Saturday 12 January 2002 - Noorderslag Festival

Noorderslag Festival in De Oosterpoort shows the new breed of contemporary Dutch rock, pop and dance music. Highly publicised and broadcast live on national Radio 3FM, close to 50 acts perform on eight stages under one roof. With the presentation of the prestigious Dutch Pop Award as an extra media event, Noorderslag brings you in touch with the new sounds from the Netherlands.

A sold out event for many years, Noorderslag Seminar is an important music business conference in the northwest of Europe. Attracting the entire Dutch music industry, Noorderslag Seminar serves as the main platform for record companies, publishers, concert and festival promoters, agents, press, radio and associated partners to discuss new developments, network and meet new contacts. A large number of panels and meetings are organised for the international participants to discuss European matters and meet their European peers, with topics ranging from How To Manage A European Act, Access To The German Music Market, How To Get Your Band On European Festivals, Live Music and EU Cultural Policy, The End Of The Major? EBU: The European Broadcasting Union will once again broadcast EuroSonic 2002 to its European radio network. In 2001, EuroSonic was broadcast by EBU radio stations in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Radio 3FM in the Netherlands carried a live broadcast of the event.
