Neumann launches KH 310 A three-way active monitor at 133rd AES

Launched at 133rd AES, San Francisco, the Neumann KH 310 three-way active monitor is going to start shipping in the first quarter of 2013. Based on newly developed drivers housed in a sealed cabinet, ther KH 310 is designed to provide extremely accurate reproduction over the entire response range at high reproduction levels. The KH 310 A's treble, midrange and bass drivers have been carefully optimized using acoustic simulations and an extensive series of measurements to provied linear reproduction across the entire bandwidth. The clear bass reproduction goes down to 34 Hz which is achieved by using a sealed cabinet design for a fast transient response. The mid-frequencies are reproduced by a dedicated soft dome midrange driver for exceptional precision. High frequencies are handled by an alloy fabric dome in an elliptical Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide.

Three powerful class-AB amplifiers and a high capacity SMPS power supply are designed to deliver headroom without audible distortion. The acoustical controls for bass, low-mid and high frequencies make it suitable for acoustically challenging workplaces such as edit suites and outside broadcast vans. The status of the comprehensive protective system is indicated by a back-lit Neumann logo. The optimised manufacturing tolerances allow for any two KH 310 A monitors to serve as a matched pair. The KH 310 A is magnetically shielded, and an extensive range of accessories offers diverse mounting options. The KH 310 A is suitable as near-field monitor for mixing and mastering, as front loudspeaker in medium-sized surround systems, or as rear loudspeaker for larger multi-channel systems. Combined with Neumann's KH 810 and KH 870 studio subwoofers featuring a 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager, the KH 310 A monitor provides a perfect surround solution.
