Sonifex shows new additions to its Redbox range at NAB 2009

At NAB show 2009, Las Vegas, stand N3217, Sonifex shows new additions to its Redbox range, a new version of the Reference Monitor, and more.
The Redbox RB-DSD1 is digital silence detection unit, specifically designed for radio station master outputs and transmitter sites. This unit switches between two digital inputs on loss of audio. Similar to the existing Sonifex RB-SD1 analogue silence detector, the digital version has AES/EBU, S/PDIF and TOSLink digital inputs and outputs, selectable silence duration & gain threshold, manual or automatic return and TTL wordclock & AES/EBU sync inputs.
A 'bright' idea from Sonifex is the SignalLED range of illuminated studio signs. Designed for studio installers and systems integrators, these elegant RGB LED signs contain the control electronics themselves so they can be simply configured for colour and operation on site.
Also, the latest Reference Monitor 1U rack-mount audio monitor with Dolby Decoding will be showcased. The new version of the Reference Monitor, the RM-4C8-HDE1 can decode a Dolby E or Dolby Digital audio stream allowing you to monitor visually 8 or 5.1 audio channels respectively and to monitor audibly any 2 of those channels. There are 3 Reference Monitor products which can decode Dolby E and Dolby Digital signals. Available as either rack-mount units, or as add-on cards to existing RM-4C8 units, the cards can either decode Dolby 5.1 audio from an AES audio stream (with options for either XLR or BNC connections), or can de-embed an AES stream from an HD/SD-SDI source and then decode a Dolby encoded AES signal.
The Reference Monitor range offers quality loudspeaker monitoring and high-resolution metering of up to four or ten stereo audio sources (more with the addition of an optional expansion card). Sources may be in any mixture of analogue and AES/EBU digital formats, with sample rates up to 192kHz accepted. Other new monitors showing include two confidence monitors. Using the same outstanding speaker system as the Reference Monitor range, the confidence monitors offer a superb sound with a cut-down feature set. The RM-CA2 has two LED meters and two analogue stereo inputs while the RM-CAD8 has two LED meters, two analogue and six digital stereo inputs. The confidence monitors have been designed to give the best possible performance at a reduced price.
