Keilwerth launches Saxophone Idol International Competition

Saxophone Idol is an international competition that is open to all saxophone players aged 18-35. It offers three finalists the opportunity to perform live at Chicago’s Jazz Showcase in December 2013 and eventually being selected as “Saxophone Idol”. Finalists will be judged by a panel of prominent industrymembers including Ernie Watts and François Kloc, Vice President, Buffet Group USA.
To enter the competition submit a video recording (no other format will be accepted) which must be recorded with a live band/rhythm section. The video should contain two songs which may exceed five minutes respectively.
Keilwerth demands a standard jazz composition (medium or up-tempo swing) chosen from 'What Is This Thing Called Love', 'I Hear a Rhapsody', 'Have You Met Miss Jones' or 'I Love You', and a ballad chosen from 'Body and Soul', 'Darn That Dream', 'Georgia On My Mind', or 'I Can’t Get Started'.
Contestants must be available for travel and performances the week of December 16th, 2013. The winner will receive a Julius Keilwerth Saxophone, a Vandoren Mouthpiece plus a year's supply of Vandoren reeds, as well as a 24-months-subscription of Downbeat Magazine. The winner will alsp perform along Earnie Watts at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago.
