Rory Mazzela appointed Rico artist & educator relations representative

Rico announces the appointment of Rory Mazzela to the position of Rico Artist and Educator Relations Representative. "I'm very excited and happy to be onboard with J. D'Addario and to be part of such a forward-thinking organization," Mazzela says. "I'll bring my experiences as a performing artist, educator and reed technician to help contribute and be part of a great team."
Mazzela, who has been in Rico's quality control department since 1999, will serves as a vital link between the artist and educator communities and Rico. His responsibilities will include coordinating the Rico artist relations program, overseeing D'Addario Studio West (now being re-built in Ricos California facilities), attending educator and consumer events, and working with local schools and educators to organize clinics and masterclasses.
The holder of a Masters Degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Southern California, Mazzela also works as a freelance musician in Los Angeles, doing session work in classical, orchestral, jazz, and pop styles. He also tours with singer/songwriter Bobby Caldwell, playing saxophone and flute.
"Rory's been with Rico for several years, so he really knows the product line inside and out," says Grace Newman, "J. D'Addario artist relations manager. "He also knows Rico's artists very well, most of them personally, and his product knowledge will be an integral part of his interaction with music educators."
