D.A.S. introduces its new Avant range of powered portable loudspeakers

Launched at Winter NAMM show 2009, D.A.S Audio also highlighted its new Avant series of powered speakers at prolight+ sound show 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany. The D.A.S. stand showcased the whole range of products such as the Arco, Reference, Artec, Variant and Aero series, and the LX-218A subwoofer system.
The Avant series incorporates the latest in Class D power amplification, digital signal processing and optimized D.A.S. components which come in enclosures designed for ease of transportation and road worthiness. The series comprises a 12” two-way, a 15” two-way, a 2 x 15” two-way and an 18” subwoofer system. The Avant series is aiming at musicians, DJs and A/V professionals.
Employing 3rd generation Class “D” technologies has significantly improved audio performance, efficiency and weight. According to D.A.S., the state-of-the-art amplifier electronics of the Avant series sets a new industry benchmark in audio performance, efficiency and power density.
The 600 W amplifiers provide extended bandwidth, improved dynamic range and very low distortion. With a power density of over 20 W per cubic inch, the Avant series features considerably reduced cabinet size and weight. The Digital Signal Processing (DSP) of the Avant series provides control over the audio signal. Critical parameters have been fine tuned for the specific configuration of each cabinet, and the systems' consistent sound “signature” allows them to perform seamlessly with any other member of the Avant family.
The Avant systems are protected by two an instantaneous peak limiter to safeguard the systems against spikes and a sonically transparent RMS limiter that controls overpowering and thermal damage to components.
The rear panel offers simple connection with 1/4" phone jacks or XLR’s. Full-range models may be switched to “Boost” for extra bass and brighter treble. Each full-range system has a level control and a switch for ‘mic’ or ‘line’ level input.
The subwoofer system includes two balanced inputs with filtered stereo outputs for satellite systems. The variable crossover ranges from 60 Hz-160 Hz and can be defeated to offer stereo “loop thru” connections. A gain control and phase reverse feature increase user control over the system.
