Martin and Philips support Rainbow for Europe project

Following the signing of their European commercial cooperation agreement, Martin Architectural and Philips Luminaires have announced that they have jointly supporte Austrian artist Waltraut Cooper's Rainbow for Europe lighting project in April and May 2004.
To celebrate the accession of the ten new member states to the European Union on May 1st and Europe Day on May 9th, this project highlighted in color important cultural sites, spanning a rainbow of lighting and color across the continent.
The six cultural sites illuminated in the project were Warsaw's Royal Palace (red), Berlin's Brandenburg Gate (orange), Rome's Coliseum (yellow), Vienna's Museum of Fine Arts (green), Brussels' European Parliament (blue) and Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior (violet).
The project, running from April 30th to May 10th, served as a symbol of unity, peace and time between peoples. It expressed the utopian vision of the artist of a united, peaceful continent not confined by the EU frontiers but extending to the geographical limits of Europe and thus opening up the vista of a possible future in peace and prosperity.
Waltraut Cooper commented: "I am delighted that my Rainbow for Europe project has captured the imagination of two such leading companies in the field of lighting as Philips and Martin Architectural."
