GPIO - General Purpose Input Output. Depending on the architecture of integrated circuit chips, GPIO pins can be used to provide an interface for reset or external control. GPIO pins can be configured to be input or output or enabled/disabled. A GPIO pin is usually connected to another chip which can read or change the connected circuit's state.
GPIO connectors are also found on technical gear (mostly) for installed applications; for example to connect control units. |
