TRS - Tip, Ring, Sleeve describes a stereo/dual-channel or balanced connection using a 1/4" (6.3mm) phone plug or smaller 3.5mm plugs for audio. TRS is widely used with headphones/headsets. Musicians connect instruments and backline hardware. Also common with vintage analogue studio gear (mixers, effects units, patch panels), TRS provides easy to use connections.
