HES' 0zoom assembly upgrade option for Studio Spot and Studio Spot 575 CMY automated luminaireswas unveiled at the Professional Lighting and Sound (PLASA) trade show 2003 in London. This upgrade is useful in those situations in which lighting professionals need the zoom function rather than the variable frost feature which it replaces. The upgrade is performed via a simple switch-out, because of the luminaire's modularity.
There are no compatibility problems adding the Studio Spot 575 zoom fixture to existing stock. The 18-30 degree zoom range allows zoom and fixed angle Studio Spots to be used together in the rig and still cover 99 percent of all lens requirements. It can match standard or wide beam fixtures and everything in between with smooth, stepless control. The light output has also been tailored to within 2 percent or so of the output of a fixed unit, so there is no brightness difference when mixing zoom and non-zoom units.
