Philips Public Signage Introduces slimmest 65-inch display at ISE 2010

MMD, the new entity behind Philips branded displays, announces availability of the slimmest display within its public signage range of 65-inch widescreen displays. The Philips BDL6551V will be showcased in February 2010 at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Amsterdam. With its ultra slim bezel, the 65” display communicates messages in a stylish way and is sure to grab audience’s attention given the impressive size of the screen.
The LCD display is only 3.1 cm (1,22 inch) thick which, on average, is half the size of the bezel compared to the industry average in its category. Wilfred de Man, Director Sales & Marketing EMEA says: “We are serious about our ambitions in 2010: Philips Public Signage want to double our market share in Europe in 2010 and become a leading player in this market segment. Supported by the strong Philips brand name, our long history and experience in the B2B display market and the introduction of an exciting full new product range, we are convinced we are well placed to achieve this goal.”
The Philips 65-inch display features a stylish look to a public display to nicely blend in most environments and is suitable for tiled matrix video walls. A provision at the back of the display allows a small form factor (SFF) PC or media device to be inserted discreetly. The Smart Insert was developed to easily upgrade, service and swap PCs without the need of replacing the complete display. The display is designed for 24/7 operation because public signage displays are used in the most demanding applications and must be tested for heavy duty operation. To save energy the backlight intensity is pre-programmed to reduce the power consumption by up to 50%.
The Philips BDL6551V is available from April 2010.
